What started as a pilot in Gurugram in 2024 is now one of the largest dedicated rest infrastructure programmes for delivery drivers in India, open to all drivers across the ecommerce and logistics industry, regardless of which company they deliver for.\n\nEach Ashray centre is equipped with air-conditioned seating, clean drinking water, electrolytes, charging points for mobile phones, clean washrooms, first-aid kits and comfortable resting space. Ashray centres accommodate 10 to 15 people at a time, allow free access for up to 30 minutes per visit, and operate from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at high-footfall locations such as petrol pumps and commercial spaces. All locations are listed on Google Maps.\n\n## **Mobile Ashray vans**\n\nAmazon has also introduced mobile Ashray vans, fully air-conditioned units stationed along high-traffic delivery routes so drivers can access rest and hydration without needing to travel to a fixed location. Each van is equipped with air-conditioned seating, clean drinking water, electrolytes, free Wi-Fi and mobile charging points. Mobile vans are now operational in four cities: Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru.\n\n## **Partnership with the Government of Telangana**\n\nAhead of the festive season, AmazonIndia inaugurated a new Ashray centre in Kondapur, Hyderabad, in partnership with the Government of Telangana. This is Amazon's first collaboration with the Telangana state government to set up Ashray centres.\n\n![MoU between Amazon and Govt of Telangana](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/cecee42/2147483647/strip/true/crop/1280x700+0+0/resize/767x419!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2F59%2Feb%2Fc9a3a90649b18ff9953d04cf8bca%2Fmou-with-the-govt-of-telangana.jpg)\n***(From L to R)** Shri Amit Narayan, IAS, Zonal Commissioner Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, Shadab Anwer, Director - Operations at Amazon India, Shri Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Special Chief Secretary to the Government, Metropolitan Area and Urban Development (HMDA limits), Government of Telangana and Dr. G Srijana, IAS Municipal Commissioner, Cyberabad.*\n\nThe partnership follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year covering five Ashray centres in high-footfall areas across Hyderabad, including Kondapur, Bharathinagar and Patancheru. The Kondapur centre is the first to become operational, with the remaining four expected by the end of this year. With this launch, Amazon now operates 10 Ashray centres in Hyderabad.\n\n## **Partnerships and expansion**\n\nAmazon's partners for setting up Ashray centres include Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), the Government of Telangana, Udyasa Foundation and Rural Education and Development (READ) India. In partnership with HPCL, Amazon launched 40 Ashray centres in August 2025. The launch in Delhi's Rohini area was inaugurated by Shri Yogender Chandolia, Member of Parliament from Delhi's North-West Constituency.\n\n## **How Ashray has grown**\n\n**2024:** Pilot launched with centres in Gurugram, Bengaluru and Mumbai.\n\n**2025:** Scaled to 100 centres across 16 cities. 40 centres launched in partnership with HPCL.\n\n**May 2026**: Expanded to 150 centres across 17 cities. Mobile Ashray vans launched in Delhi-NCR.\n\n**September 2026**: 50 additional centres announced, taking the total to 200. Mobile vans now live in four cities. On track for 250 centres by end of year.\n\nBeyond Ashray, Amazon has established rest areas, break zones and cafeterias within its fulfilment centres, sort centres and delivery stations to support associate well-being during shifts.\n\n![Safety initiatives undertaken by Amazon India to ensure employee and associate wellbeing during the summer](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/e614ecc/2147483647/strip/true/crop/4220x2813+390+0/resize/300x200!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2F06%2F0e%2F47e57c074334ba25e3868969a1f9%2Famazon-fc2.jpg)\n\n- [10 ways Amazon is prioritising associate safety and well-being this festive season](https://www.aboutamazon.in/news/operations/amazon-india-associate-safety-programs)\n\n*Update: The article was originally published on April 8, 2025 and has since been updated to reflect the latest information about Amazon's Ashray rest centres.*","publisher":{"@type":"Organization","name":"About Amazon","url":"https://www.aboutamazon.com","sameAs":["https://x.com/amazonnews","https://www.linkedin.com/company/amazon","https://www.instagram.com/amazonnews"],"logo":{"@type":"ImageObject","url":"https://assets.aboutamazon.com/bd/8f/88e7b0314cc2bd05b9de3155a0fe/amazon-news.svg"},"parentOrganization":{"@type":"Organization","name":"Amazon","url":"https://www.amazon.com","sameAs":["https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q3884","https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_(company)","https://x.com/Amazon"]}}}
