Prime Video today launched the trailer of Rainbow Rishta, India’s first unscripted series that encapsulates real-life love stories and experiences of members from the LGBTQIA+ community.

What’s in the Rainbow Rishta trailer?

Starring Trinetra Haldar, Aishwarya Ayushmaan, Daniella Mendonca, Aneez Saikia, Sanam Choudhary, Soham Sengupta, Suresh Ramdas and Sadam Hanjabam, the trailer gives viewers a window into the world of queer love stories from different parts of India. "Rainbow Rishta takes an empathetic and unfiltered look at the lives, aspirations, and desires of the people from the LGBTQIA+ community,” says Aparna Purohit, head of Originals, India and Southeast Asia, Prime Video. “We believe that a positive portrayal where you see love blossoming, friendships being formed, and families being supportive helps people from the community feel more included. We are certain that the show’s deep emotional core and sensitive stories will strike a chord with every viewer,” Purohit adds. A Vice Studio production, Rainbow Rishta brings real-life stories where the protagonists are not only blazing a path of their own but also are an irrefutable and overwhelmingly positive influence on every person they come across.

‘Half Love, Half Arranged’ blends traditional marriage with modern matchmaking. From memorable experiences on set to finding love, here’s everything Karan Wahi and Maanvi Gagroo told us about the show.

What does Ranbow Rishta communicate?

"I feel fortunate to be able to capture the real and unfiltered stories of these remarkable individuals who are living their lives with pride, and challenge societal norms with utmost courage and patience,” says Director Jaydeep Sarkar. “I am thankful to Prime Video and VICE Studios for providing a platform to these human narratives that have been long overdue. I hope with Rainbow Rishta, viewers will be able to understand a little better that queer lives are not so different from that of straight folks,” Sarkar adds.

Samira Kanwar of VICE Studios says: “At VICE Studios, we aim to tell impactful stories with a distinct narrative and a unique viewpoint. We are so proud to present Rainbow Rishta to the world. Not only is the show about love, but also empathy and celebration.”
