Amazon India hosted its first-ever Career Day in India on September 16, 2021. The virtual event brought together Amazon leadership and employees to share what makes Amazon an exciting workplace, what is it like to work here and how the company is steadfast in its commitment to help India unleash its true potential in the 21st century.

The event saw around 520k visitors to the Career Day website and 400,000 people applying for a job at Amazon as part of Career Day 2021. The event also had Amazon recruiters holding one-on-one career coaching sessions for interested participants to help grow in their careers at the company or elsewhere.

In the opening keynote, Amit Agarwal, Global Senior VP and Country Head shared Amazon India's growth story of constant innovation, customer obsession and unique workplace culture. Speaking about the breadth of opportunity at Amazon India, Amit said, “Just like me, several Amazonians have tapped into their potential and created their unique journeys. But the common denominator has been the ability to safely and purposefully wander and explore, feel, invent and meaningfully impact customer lives at a massive scale.”

Attendees had a unique opportunity to get career advice from Andy Jassy, President and CEO, Amazon as he shared insights on his own career path and the culture at Amazon. The event also included insightful panel discussions on topics such as how Amazon in India is creating value and transforming lives, life at Amazon, and how Amazonians are working on tech innovations for good.

Through exciting fireside chats and panel discussions, the event aimed to help decode ‘Life at Amazon’. Sessions with panelists including Raghava Rao, Vice President Finance & India CFO, Amazon, Puneet Chandok, President, Commercial Business, AWS India & South Asia, AISPL, and Mahendra Nerurkar, CEO, Amazon Pay India, Akhil Saxena, Vice President, Customer Fulfilment Operations, APAC, MENA & LATAM, Amazon shared the future outlook of its key business areas in India, and also shed light on the spectrum of work opportunities that the company creates across the country, including small cities.
