Data drives the world


Amazonian Sagarika loves the fact that everything about her work is data-driven. This Quality Assurance Manager loves to travel, having already visited 15 countries so far and counting. “I grew from being an individual contributor to leading a team,” she shares, adding, “I now manage a 12-member team of Quality Assurance Engineers and Software Development Engineer Test (SDETs) to drive quality initiatives for Prime.”

Talking about her work environment, she says, “It is very transparent and encouraging. We have the freedom to try out new ideas, fail fast, and improvise.” Sagarika and her team build automated solutions to test, maintain, monitor, and deploy the services that are crucial to Prime. “I love the scale and global footprint it operates at – and the kind of impact our work creates,” she says.

Tech is music to my ears

At another end of the spectrum, Amazonian Phani works with the Amazon Music team. The senior software development manager has been part of the organization for over 14 years.

“We develop technical solutions to enhance the product, add new features, and scale the platform. Our job is to give our global customers a great music experience. Working at Amazon has taught this techie to work with his strengths and watch out for blind spots. “Our leadership principles like taking ownership and deep-diving into the problem at hand have helped me deliver consistently." Outside of work, Phani loves nature, traveling and watching movies.

Making online payments secure for all

“My team is responsible for launching multiple payment methods and processors in European markets. I love that I get to work on a range of internal and customer-facing projects with teams that cater to millions of customers,” says Tanya. This Software Development Engineer is part of Amazon’s Consumer Payments International Expansion tech team.

In his own words, his proudest moment at Amazon was enhancing the Alexa experience for customers by enabling profile deletion through the ‘Manage your profiles’ (MYP) page on the Amazon website. “I worked with Product Managers to define, design and implement the changes required for a more customer-friendly experience. The feature was recently launched worldwide to all Amazon customers.”

Over the years, this Chennai-based techie has grown a lot professionally. “I have learnt several good coding practices, varied technologies, languages, frameworks and different ways to scale our systems to make them available to our customers at all times.”
