1. What is marketplace fee?

Amazon.in’s marketplace fee is a flat fee charged by Amazon to customers. It enables Amazon to offer a vast range of products from millions of sellers with convenient doorstep delivery.

2. What is the marketplace fee charge?

Marketplace fee is currently charged at a flat rate of ₹5. The fee amount is inclusive of all applicable taxes.

3. What are the exclusions for marketplace fee?

At launch, marketplace fee will not apply on the following orders:

  • Gift card purchases—physical or digital
  • Orders made on Amazon Business (B2B), Bazaar, Amazon Now and Amazon Fresh
  • Digital purchases or payments such as mobile recharges, bill payments, travel/movie ticket bookings, insurance payments, Alexa skills, Fire TV apps, Prime Video movies purchase/rent, subscriptions such as Prime, digital products fulfilled through email, ex: software, apple store codes etc.
  • In addition, for Pay on Delivery (POD) orders or prepaid orders with any offer processing fee, or exchange fee, the marketplace fee will not be charged as a separate line item, until further notice, through updated TnCs. Marketplace fee may be charged in combination with any other fees, in whole or partially.

4. Will this fee be applicable to Prime customers?

Yes, this fee will be applicable to customers with Prime Membership.

5. If I have multiple items in my cart, how much marketplace fee will be charged?

The marketplace fee amount is a flat ₹5 per transaction/order, irrespective of the number of items in the order.

6. If there are multiple items in my order and I cancel some items/shipments, will I be refunded the fee?

Here is the refund policy for marketplace fee for various cancellation scenarios.

  • Full cancellation before shipment: If all items in the order are cancelled before shipment, then marketplace fee is refunded in full.
  • Partial cancellation before shipment: If some items in the order are cancelled before shipment, marketplace fee is refunded partially based on the price of the item(s) cancelled. For example, if an order worth ₹500 contains 2 items worth ₹100 and ₹400 respectively and the ₹100 item is cancelled before shipment, then ₹1 fee is refunded to the original payment method or Amazon Pay Balance, as may be chosen by the customer.

7. If there are multiple items in my order and I reject some items, will I be refunded the fee?

  • Full doorstep reject: If all items in the order are rejected at doorstep, then marketplace fee will be refunded in full.
  • Partial doorstep reject: If some items in the order are rejected at doorstep, marketplace fee is refunded partially based on the price of the item(s) rejected. For example, say an order worth ₹500 contains 2 items worth ₹100 and ₹400 respectively. If the ₹100 item is rejected at doorstep, then ₹1 fee is refunded.

8. If I return the entire or partial order after delivery, will I receive a refund of marketplace fee?

Marketplace fee is non-refundable for order returns after delivery (all items/some items).

9. Where can I find the details of the marketplace fee in my order?

Marketplace fee and related details will be visible to you across your purchasing journey on Amazon:

  • Marketplace fee shows up as a separate line item on the order summary page before you place the order or make the payment.
  • All the emails you receive after placing your order—order confirmation, shipment confirmation, and so on—carry the details of the marketplace fee and the order total shown is inclusive of the fee.
  • You can also download the marketplace fee invoice from the ‘Invoice’ section of ‘Your orders > Order details’ page.

10. How do I know which fee is getting charged to me on an order and how much I am getting charged?

The marketplace fee amount applied on an order will be transparently displayed to you upfront on the order summary page as a separate line item before you make the payment and place the order.
