Ever wondered how Amazon orders make their way to your doorstep? You can now find out with free guided tours at Amazon fulfilment centres (FC) in Delhi NCR and Bengaluru.
Comedian and actor Danish Sait recently got a firsthand look at the Bengaluru FC — here's what he had to say about it.
What is Amazon Tours
Amazon Tours invites visitors to step inside its FCs for a behind-the-scenes look at how customer orders are stored, processed, and shipped. The 60- to 90-minute guided tours are free and open to the public.
"We've built India's fastest, safest, and most reliable operations network, and now we're excited to give people a chance to see it firsthand," says Abhinav Singh, VP Operations India and Australia. "These tours offer visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the technology and people working together to deliver for our customers every day."
The Delhi NCR FC, Amazon's largest in North India, spans 450,000 square feet—equivalent to eight football fields. The Bengaluru FC is Amazon's largest in the country, with over 2 million cubic feet of storage space, roughly the capacity of 800 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
"We're excited to bring the Amazon Tours program to India after delighting visitors across many different parts of the world," says Nick Boone-Lutz, who leads the public tours program at Amazon. "Since 2014, we've welcomed over 2 million visitors across more than 35 locations in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, France, Germany, and Italy."
What to expect on the tour
Each tour begins with a video on Amazon's history and evolution in India, followed by a guided walk through the FC. Visitors can observe the technology in use, meet employees and associates, and see how packages are prepared for delivery.
The tour also covers Amazon India's safety practices, including heat monitoring, medical facilities, and air-conditioned breakrooms, as well as development opportunities for employees and associates.
Tours run twice daily at each FC, with up to 25 participants per session. Tour leaders at both sites can conduct tours in English, Hindi, and Kannada upon request. All visitors aged six and above are welcome; those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
For safety, wear comfortable closed-toe shoes, tie back long hair, and secure loose items. Review the "Know Before You Go" instructions on the booking page before your visit.
