Amazon India has announced its biggest-ever expansion of its operations network ahead of the festive season, with the launch of 20 new fulfilment centres (FCs), six new sort centres (SCs), and 150 new last mile delivery stations. The expansion grows Amazon India's total storage capacity by 50% to 64 million cubic feet—equivalent to more than 720 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Amazon India's continued investment in network expansion has enabled same-day deliveries to reach 30% more cities over the past year—bringing faster, more reliable delivery speeds to customers across India.
In a major push beyond metros, all new sort centres and seven new fulfilment centres are launching in non-metro cities, including the first-ever Amazon FCs in Raipur, Ranchi and Varanasi, strengthening Amazon India’s operations network in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities across the country. The new sort centres in Chikkaballapur, Hassan, Meerut, Ramanagar, Raipur and Varanasi will expand total sortation area by 25% from 2.4 million to 3 million square feet. These facilities will be operated and managed by strategic partners who are leaders in the logistics industry.

“As we scale our specialised fulfilment infrastructure, we are expanding access to a wider selection of products across our broader network, with delivery options designed to meet customer needs—from delivery in minutes through Amazon Now, to a few hours, Same-Day or Next-Day delivery. Ahead of the festive season, we are excited to have these new facilities operational and ready to serve customers across India. These investments will help us respond to evolving customer and seller needs, while creating tens of thousands of work opportunities and supporting economic growth in communities across the country,” he adds.
Amazon has also added 150 new last mile delivery stations across 118 cities including Asansol, Bathinda, Bikaner, Coimbatore, Doda, Etawah, Gaya, Hosur, Jaunpur, Junagadh, Madurai, Nellore, Puri, Siliguri, Solapur, Tiruvannamalai, Tumkur, Udhampur, West Garo Hills and more, extending Amazon's reach deeper into smaller towns and cities across India. Of these, 12 cities—Bhojpur, Bokajan, Jalaun, Jehanabad, Namsai, Puruliya, Ribhoi, Senapati, Sivasagar, Udalguri, Ukhrul and Wokha—will have their first-ever Amazon last mile delivery station.
This expansion is part of Amazon's recently announced investment of over ₹2,800 crore to strengthen its pan-India operations network. The expanded network brings seller inventory closer to customers and extends Amazon India’s last mile reach across more regions, helping Amazon meet the increased demand with faster and more reliable deliveries.
Across its network, Amazon operates best-in-class infrastructure designed with a strong focus on safety and the well-being and experience of employees and associates. Amazon recently launched ‘Sammaan’, a comprehensive welfare programme for thousands of delivery associates in its logistics network. Initiatives include scholarships for the education of associates' children, enabling access to government benefits and financial inclusion programmes, comprehensive insurance coverage, on-road safety measures and more.
Amazon getting ready for the festive season
With customer demand expected to surge across India ahead of the festive season, Amazon has announced 160,000 seasonal job opportunities across its operations network. These span Amazon’s core and quick commerce operations network across 400 cities in India, including large metros as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, such as Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Jalandhar, Kochi, Ranchi, Salem, Varanasi, and others.
Amazon Now: Building India's largest 'delivery in minutes' network
Amazon recently announced plans to build India’s largest ‘delivery in minutes’ network by scaling Amazon Now, its ultra-fast delivery service, to reach customers in over 300 cities across the country. Since its launch, Amazon Now has become the fastest-growing ecommerce business unit in Amazon India’s history, with orders doubling every quarter. Currently available in over 55 cities through more than 750 stores, Amazon Now is rapidly expanding its specialised fulfilment infrastructure to bring a wide selection of products to customers within minutes.
