Strengthening its commitment towards increasing participation of women in the workforce, Amazon India today announced the launch of Gujarat’s first all-women delivery station, operated by a delivery service partner, in the town of Kadi. This is one of the several initiatives introduced by the company to create opportunities for women and enable their success in the logistics sector. In 2016, the company had launched the first all-women delivery station in India, with its partner in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The Delivery Service Partner program is a last-mile delivery model of Amazon India, where the company partners with entrepreneurs. For many partners, this program is their first entrepreneurial venture. They leverage their local knowledge of the community and the technological support offered by Amazon India to seamlessly fulfil customer promises.

This first-of-its-kind station in Gujarat is completely managed and run by women across managerial and delivery associate roles. Amazon India has introduced several measures to ensure a safe workplace for women by creating awareness and building various feedback mechanisms to address concerns through open dialogues. Furthermore, there is a helpline number created for associates to dial in for any support or help needed during the day. The associates will deliver packages within a 2-5km radius of the station. Kadi is located close to 50 Kilometers away from Gujarat’s capital city of Ahmedabad, with a population of close to 80,000 people.
