Govind Pranay was in the tenth grade when family circumstances forced him to take on additional responsibilities and pause his studies. His father’s health condition deteriorated and that compelled Govind to start working with neighbourhood stores to deliver groceries and ran small errands. He was too young to manage his father’s business - a stationery store called Monarch Enterprises. However, he kept searching for a meaningful opportunity to earn additional income.

Restarting the family business
After he turned 18, Govind decided to restart his father’s stationery business. A few months later, a relative introduced him to Amazon’s ‘I Have Space’ program as a way to supplement his income. He immediately signed up. Since then, there has been no looking back. The additional income not only helped Govind to manage his father’s business but also rekindle his love for studies. Govind completed his bachelor’s degree in business management in 2021 and today he also supports his younger brother’s education. The 23-years-old runs his stationery store successfully and also delivers packages to Amazon customers in his free time. Govind loves reading books across different genres and irrespective of his busy schedule he ensures that he dedicates some time to pursue this hobby.

The maturity and progress that Govind has made in life at this young age as Amazon’s I Have Space Partner is truly remarkable.

His ability to balance his education, work and family responsibilities is an inspiration to many. He serves as a powerful example for those who may feel defeated by challenges in life.”

Earning additional income

The ‘I Have Space’ program has not only allowed Govind to nurture his father’s entrepreneurial venture but has also given him the flexibility to balance his personal and professional aspirations while earning a steady income. Talking about his journey with Amazon ‘I Have Space,’ Govind says, “Amazon’s I Have Space program has encouraged my entrepreneurial ability and has enabled me to scale the business, which my father had started. The program’s design allows me to deliver the packages during my non-peak hours, which has not only given me an additional source of income but has also allowed me to balance my life, education and family responsibilities seamlessly. More than anything, the amount of respect I have earned in society as an I Have Space partner is unmatchable."

Expansion of delivery network

As Amazon scales and expands its delivery network across Bihar, it continues to enable individuals to unlock their entrepreneurial potential and is creating opportunities to expand their horizons through the I Have Space program. Amazon India partners with local stores and business owners to deliver products to customers within a 2-4 km radius of their store, allowing them to earn additional income. Launched in 2015, the program has more than 28,000 neighbourhood and Kirana partners in about 420 towns and cities across India, including hundreds of ‘I Have Space’ (IHS) stores in Patna.
