When Gopal Kolli, founder and CEO, Solara, was a manager in the Home and Kitchen category in Amazon USA, he was impressed with the selection and quality of products available in the US. That’s when he decided to launch a brand on Amazon.in in this category, leveraging his previous experience and contacts.
His brand, Solara, focuses on premium, high-quality home and kitchen products that contribute towards healthy living. Their offerings are focused on the sleep, kitchen and home fitness categories.
Pre-Amazon, it was almost impossible for a bootstrapped entrepreneur to build a national brand.
Launching on Amazon was a no-brainer for Gopal, given the sheer scale that Amazon offers. He said, “We take things for granted now, but pre-Amazon, it was almost impossible for a bootstrapped entrepreneur to build a national brand. I think Amazon has enabled that in the US and now in India. So, Amazon was my natural choice.”

The company has grown exponentially, going from shipping 5-10 units a day in January 2021 to 400-500 units daily, today. Amazon’s various initiatives for sellers have played a role in driving this growth. “We have been extremely happy working with Amazon and leveraging all Amazon initiatives such as Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), Amazon Launchpad, Seller Flex etc.,” said Gopal.
