Amazon has announced the expansion of Amazon Now, its ultra-fast delivery services, to 100 cities across India. Amazon will scale its specialised fulfilment infrastructure to over 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres (MFCs) to support this growth. The expansion will also enable more than 16,000 farmers to take their produce directly to customers through sellers on Amazon Now.
Customers across metros and non-metro cities including Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Meerut, Mysore, Panipat, Kochi, Amritsar, Mangalore and Vizag, along with existing cities Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru, will be able to shop from Amazon Now.
What customers are ordering
Amazon Now offers a curated selection of thousands of daily essentials such as groceries (including fruits and vegetables, frozen food), personal care, fashion and beauty products, small appliances, baby products, pet supplies, healthcare supplements and more delivered within minutes.
“Customers continue to enjoy Amazon Now, appreciating our delivery speed, value and selection — especially the quality of fresh produce sourced directly from farmers. Encouraged by this success, we have further accelerated our expansion plans and will scale Amazon Now to 100 cities, fuelled by a network of more than 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres,” says Harsh Goyal, Vice President – Everyday Essentials, Amazon India.
"This expansion will also help more than 16,000 farmers to leverage our technology & operations to take their produce directly to customers through sellers on Amazon Now. Customers continue to get the convenience of our fastest delivery speeds on the largest selection offered by our sellers — thousands of daily essentials including perishables in minutes, over a million items on the same day, and another 4 million the next day on Amazon.in,” he adds.
A key priority in this scale-up is safety, consistency, and thoughtful operations, ensuring our micro-fulfilment centres remain spacious, hygienic, and operationally efficient while enabling ultra-fast deliveries within minutes. Unlike conventional “dark stores” in the quick commerce industry, Amazon Now locations are designed to be spacious and hygienic, while still maintaining speed and operational efficiency. Simply put, Amazon Now stores are lit.
How Amazon Now works
Amazon Now is powered by strategically located micro-fulfilment centres—compact, technology-enabled facilities designed for ultra-fast deliveries. These centres position essential products close to customer neighbourhoods, using advanced inventory systems that optimise product placement based on hyperlocal demand.

Amazon’s continued investment in India
Amazon Now’s rapid expansion is part of Amazon’s investment of over ₹2,800 crore (~USD 300 million) to further strengthen associate safety, health, and financial wellbeing measures while strengthening one of India’s safest, fastest and most reliable operations network.
Electric trucks powering Amazon Now
Amazon India will deploy around 1,000 electric trucks, developed in collaboration with Eicher Trucks and Buses (a division of VE Commercial Vehicles), to support Amazon Now operations across the country. This is expected to be one of India's largest dedicated electric truck fleets in the ecommerce and quick commerce sectors.
The Eicher Pro-X is a compact electric truck purpose-built for high-frequency, intra-city operations. These vehicles move goods between Amazon's fulfilment hubs on the outskirts of cities and Amazon Now micro-fulfilment centres located closer to customers. In daily operations, each truck covers 100 to 180 km and supports multiple trips between facilities, with a fast-charging time of around 50 minutes.
Amazon has already deployed around 50 of these trucks and plans to scale the fleet to over 1,000 by 2028. The rollout begins in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru and Mumbai.
This builds on Amazon's broader electric mobility efforts in India. The company has deployed over 12,500 electric vehicles across more than 500 cities, working with multiple manufacturers to electrify both last-mile and middle-mile transportation. In 2025 alone, Amazon deployed over 100 electric trucks with multiple automakers across cities including Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata.
