Why did Prime Day start?
Prime Day was created as a way to celebrate Prime members. The first Prime Day event was held on Amazon's 20th birthday on July 15, 2015 in the U.S. In India, the first Prime Day was launched two years later in July 2017. This year marks the 10th edition of Prime Day in India.
What was Prime Day 2025 all about?
Prime Day 2025 was Amazon India's most shopped Prime Day ever. The three-day event shattered previous records with the highest-ever Prime membership sign-ups and engagement, as orders peaked at over 18,000 per minute (more than 50% compared to Prime Day 2024). Prime's reach expanded significantly beyond metropolitan areas, with 70% of new sign-ups coming from tier 2 and 3 cities and towns. Small and medium businesses experienced their strongest Prime Day to date, with the number of SMBs receiving a sale reaching an all-time high (over 30% increase compared to the previous year) and more than 68% of those SMBs based in tier 2 and 3 cities.

Prime Day 2026 is live now. The event runs from July 4–6—72 hours of deals, more than 500 new launches and entertainment for Prime members.
