This Valentine’s month, Amazon India is highlighting couples who are building their personal and professional journeys together. Across Amazon’s operations and partner network, couples are strengthening careers, building businesses, and planning for their families’ futures—supported by inclusive programs, accessible infrastructure, and meaningful work opportunities.

From local store owners delivering Amazon packages to customers, to associates working in sort centers and military veterans transitioning to corporate roles, these stories reflect how shared commitment, resilience, and access to opportunity help individuals move forward with confidence.

Amazon Hub delivery partners: Alpana and Raman Kakker

Seven years ago, Alpana Kakker worked at a beauty retail store while her husband, Raman, managed a neighborhood kirana shop. Both were deeply committed to their work and were exploring ways to expand their income streams alongside their existing businesses.

They learned about Amazon’s Hub Delivery program (formerly ‘I Have Space’) through a friend. The program offers local store owners a flexible additional earnings opportunity while running their primary business, as they can utilise their extra time (non-peak hours) to deliver packages to Amazon customers within a 2–4-kilometre radius of their store location.

Intrigued by this opportunity to supplement their income while utilising their free time, they enrolled in the programme and became Amazon Hub Delivery partners.

Reflecting on the journey, Alpana says, "We took the first step and learned along the way. Over time, it became a goal and a business we are proud to run."

Launched in 2015, the Hub Delivery program today includes more than 28,000 neighborhood and kirana store partners across close to 420 towns and cities in India, supporting local entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses and capabilities. In addition to earning through deliveries, store partners benefit from structured support, recognition, and access to insurance and other benefits.

Operations associates: Asif and Sarita

Nine years ago, Asif and Sarita, who are Deaf and hard of hearing, began their life together as partners. In 2020, they joined an Amazon facility in Bengaluru, where they work across sorting, scanning, and bagging. They learn together, adapt together, and support each other through every change—at work and at home. With access to sign language training and digital learning tools, they continue to grow with confidence, side by side.

Today, as they balance their careers while planning for their daughter’s future, Asif and Sarita remind us that love is not just about moments—it’s about shared journeys, mutual respect, and building dreams together.

To support DHH associates, Amazon has implemented several infrastructure and learning initiatives. SignAble, a virtual and interactive interpreter platform, enables real-time communication between DHH associates and their colleagues on the operations floor. In addition, Amazon has developed training modules in Indian Sign Language (ISL), ensuring that all associates can access critical safety and operational information. To further support learning and skill development, Amazon has created ISL-based e-learning content under the Ampowered programme. This initiative focuses on making learning accessible for employees with disabilities while promoting inclusion for everyone.

From the Indian Navy to corporate careers: Priyanka Joshi and Apurv Goyal

Priyanka Joshi and Apurv Goyal served over a decade in the Indian Navy in air traffic control roles where they developed strong discipline and decision-making skills. They met during a posting in Mumbai and married in 2017.

After completing their service, Priyanka joined Amazon in 2022, followed by Apurv in 2024. Transitioning from military to corporate roles required adapting to new systems and environments. Support from managers, teams, and the internal Warriors community, an Amazon affinity group supporting veterans, played an important role in their integration.

Priyanka shares, “The transition required learning and adaptation, but the support system helped us navigate the change while balancing family responsibilities.” Their journey reflects how shared values, resilience, and mutual support help couples navigate change and move forward together.

Across these journeys, a common thread emerges: access to opportunity, inclusive infrastructure, and long-term growth pathways enable individuals and families to build stability and progress together. Through programs supporting local stores, inclusive workplace, and veteran hiring initiatives, Amazon continues to invest in creating opportunities that strengthen families and communities across the country.
