I recently spent a full day at BLR8, one of Amazon's largest fulfillment centre in India, and interacted with several employees and associates who play a big role in shaping your delivery experience. The energy at the fulfilment centre—where products are stored, picked, packed, and shipped—was palpable. I witnessed peak customer obsession at play in my interactions with pickers, packers, stowers, quality analysts, process assistants, and our managers throughout the day. It was heartwarming to see how they were having fun at work and egging each other on... all the while optimising for speed, efficiency, and excellence.

The first 48 hours of Amazon's Great Indian Festival 2023 saw the biggest ever shopping activity, with the highest orders, transactions, and visits from customers. Over 80% of customers came from non-metros; 75 smartphones were sold per second in the first hour of Prime Early Access.

Enabling super fast deliveries across India

Our fulfilment centres are on overdrive during the Great Indian Festival, with operations in full swing 24/7 to ensure 1-day, same day, and faster-than-same-day deliveries to customers. Today, 1-day delivery is enabled in many remote towns from Assam’s Mangaldoi to Tamil Nadu’s Mohanur thanks to the relentlessly efforts of people in our operations network. BLR8 is part of Amazon’s pan-India fulfilment infrastructure and has enabled lakhs of sellers across India to serve customers across the length and breadth of our vast country. I’m happy to share that Amazon’s fulfilment centres have grown from 0.22 million cubic feet of storage space in 2013 to 43 million cubic feet in 2023: that’s about 400 Olympic size swimming pools!

The 2023 edition of the Great Indian Festival is set to become Amazon’s best one yet. I am energised by how strong our numbers have been in the first 48 hours.

Over 68% consumers have identified Amazon.in as their go-to and most convenient online shopping destination, with almost half identifying Amazon.in as the most trusted and loved online brand for festive shopping.
